The net volume is always particularly important here; calculate the subwoofer’s actual resonant chamber volume beforehand to get the correct result. The net volume is calculated by subtracting all dead spaces and is crucial for enclosure design.

HiFonics MBP bass package

There are many complete packages on the market, making it difficult to find your way around. Our tip: Don't just rely on the wattage, as the power input (e.g. that of a speaker) and the power output (e.g. that of an amplifier) are often added together for advertising purposes. What is important, however, is what comes out at the end, regardless of how many watts are used. The result is called sound pressure or thrust or bass fun and is measured in decibels (dB). In the case of the MERCURY MBP bass package, you can look forward to 141 dB of sound pressure in a medium-sized vehicle and therefore a lot of fun (measured with the Term-Lab system at 52 Hz in a VW Golf V). As the set includes a 4-channel amp, after connecting the subwoofer to channels 3+4, the two 2 x 125 watt front channels are available to drive the front speakers. By the way: 10 dB is generally perceived as double the acoustic volume

How do you connect the Hifonics bass package correctly?

The MBP1000.4 amplifier can be connected directly using the HF10WK cable kit supplied. Connect the power amplifier to your car battery and the subwoofer using the cables provided – the 60A Mini ANL fuse is already fitted.

What is the power output of the Mercury amplifier in single-channel mode?

In 1-channel mode (mono operation), the 4-channel Mercury amplifier delivers a maximum of approx. 250 watts to your subwoofer. The amplifier’s total output is 500 watts – but only about half of that is available for your subwoofer, which still delivers a powerful, clean bass.

Can the Bass Power Package be combined with other speakers?

Yes, the MBP1000.4 is a flexible 4-channel amplifier that can also be used with other speakers. You can run front and rear speakers in parallel with the MR8BP subwoofer supplied.

How long will the Mercury IV power amplifier last when used continuously?

This robust amplifier technology is designed for long-lasting use. When installed correctly and used under normal conditions, the Hifonics power amplifier will operate reliably for many years.

What is included in the bass package?

The complete set comprises the Mercury MBP1000.4 amplifier, a bass-reflex enclosure with subwoofer, the HF10WK connection kit, and all the necessary cables and fuses for installation.

Is the power output sufficient for large vehicles such as SUVs?
