GZ REFERENCE M-80

The Ground Zero GZ REFERENCE M-80 is an 80-mm midrange driver from the REFERENCE series, designed without compromise for high-quality music reproduction. Its design is aimed at reproducing the particularly important midrange with precision, control, and rich detail—ideal for sophisticated active 3-way car audio systems and custom high-end sound setups.

At the heart of the M-80 is the ceramic-coated aluminum diaphragm with a diamond pattern. This sophisticated diaphragm design combines high rigidity with targeted damping and is complemented by an additional high-damping support cone. This provides the midrange driver with the conditions necessary for a clean and nuanced reproduction of vocals, instruments, and subtle musical details.

For the driver, Ground Zero relies on a high-performance neodymium magnet system, the design of which was optimized using the Klippel® measurement system. An additional aluminum ring serves to linearize the impedance and helps ensure the speaker’s electrical behavior is as consistent as possible.

The GZ REFERENCE M-80 also features a consistently high-quality mechanical design. The sturdy die-cast aluminum basket provides a torsionally rigid base, while gold-plated terminals ensure reliable contact. With an installation depth of just 43 mm, this high-end midrange driver can be integrated relatively compactly despite its sophisticated design.

With a usable frequency range of 220 Hz to 12 kHz, a 70-watt RMS power handling capacity, and a nominal impedance of 4 ohms, the GZ REFERENCE M-80 is particularly well-suited as a high-quality link between the low-midrange driver and the tweeter. This model is sold as a pair.
