GZ REFERENCE K-165

The Ground Zero GZ REFERENCE K-165 is designed for uncompromising audio enthusiasts who want to build their own high-quality front speaker system. The 165-mm mid-bass driver from the REFERENCE series combines a sophisticated cone design with a powerful hybrid magnet system and an exceptionally sturdy die-cast aluminum basket.

At the heart of the design is the specially developed aluminum diaphragm with a diamond pattern, complemented by an additional, highly damping support cone. This design combines high rigidity with controlled natural damping, thereby creating the conditions for precise and detailed sound reproduction. With its usable frequency range of 50 Hz to 4.5 kHz, the K-165 is ideally suited as a high-quality low-midrange driver in sophisticated two- or three-way car audio systems.

For the driver, Ground Zero relies on a combination of neodymium and ferrite magnets. The 37-mm copper voice coil ensures precise reproduction of the audio signal. An additional aluminum ring serves to linearize the impedance and supports controlled electrical behavior of the driver.

Mechanically, too, the GZ REFERENCE K-165 is consistently designed for high-end applications. The torsion-resistant die-cast aluminum basket features a sophisticated ventilation system, while a copper-colored aluminum cover protects the magnetic drive and lends the speaker a premium look. Gold-plated screw terminals ensure a secure and durable connection for the speaker cables.

The chassis was developed and optimized using the Klippel® measurement system to precisely analyze and tune the speaker’s performance. With a power handling capacity of 110 watts RMS, a nominal impedance of 4 ohms, and compact installation dimensions, the GZ REFERENCE K-165 provides a high-quality foundation for sound-oriented car hi-fi installations.
