ESX acoustic foam

With the self-adhesive acoustic foams QSC7 (smooth) and QSC15 (studded), ESX offers further possibilities to significantly improve the interior acoustics in vehicles. Acoustic foams are recommended in addition to the use of aluminum-butyl mats. While aluminium butyl mats primarily ensure that vibrating parts or resonances from sheet metal parts in doors or in the trunk are quietened by their high mass, acoustic foams in cavities or smooth surfaces further optimize the acoustics in the passenger compartment thanks to their sound absorption properties. The confined space in the vehicle or smooth surfaces in particular cause many reflections or background noises that have a disturbing effect on the sound.

The smooth QSC7 with a thickness of 7 mm can be compressed down to one millimeter. This means that the acoustic foam can even be glued to interior door panels. When the trim is refitted, the foam keeps the door slightly under tension, which provides additional reassurance. The 15 mm thicker, studded QSC15 foam is often used where exposed sheet metal or problematic vehicle parts need to be acoustically insulated, such as in the trunk. Aluminum butyl in combination with acoustic foam is particularly effective where large subwoofers cause vehicle parts to vibrate. ESX QSC acoustic foams have a self-adhesive layer on the back, which means they are also often used to fix loose cables or construction cables, such as those often found in doors.
