Aluminum-butyl is not the same as aluminum-butyl. In the end, it depends on the right composition and internal structure, not just the weight or thickness of the material. Otherwise, you could basically use roofing felt. Good aluminum-butyl has high mechanical damping properties and can calm unwantedly resonating parts like a good shock absorber. At the same time, sound is dampened, so that applying aluminum-butyl additionally creates an acoustic barrier. All of this has a positive effect on the interior acoustics and the playback quality of the speakers.
