The CZ Audio KW4 12" D1.6 Carbon is a no-compromise 30-cm subwoofer designed for high-performance car audio and SPL systems. With a power handling capacity of 6,000 watts RMS, a massive ferrite driver, and a generously sized 4-inch voice coil, the KW4 is designed for extreme power demands and high sound pressure levels.

The carbon diaphragm combines high mechanical stability with a rigid structure suitable for this performance class. Even with large diaphragm excursions, the diaphragm is designed to retain its shape as reliably as possible and convert the force generated by the driver into sound pressure in a controlled manner. Together with the powerful ferrite motor system, this results in a subwoofer designed specifically for applications where power handling, excursion, and high output levels are paramount.

At the heart of the KW4 is the massive 4-inch (101.6 mm) voice coil with an 8-layer winding. The generously sized drive unit enables an RMS power handling capacity of 6,000 watts and a specified peak power handling capacity of up to 15,000 watts. With a linear cone excursion of 40 mm in one direction, the driver also offers considerable mechanical headroom.

The D1.6 model features two voice coils, each with an impedance of 1.6 ohms. This allows for flexible wiring of the subwoofer depending on the amplifier and the number of drivers used. The resonance frequency of 36 Hz and the specified frequency response range of 10 to 300 Hz underscore its design for powerful low-frequency reproduction.

CZ Audio handcrafts its subwoofers in Austria. The KW4 weighs in at around 37 kg, and its solid construction alone makes it clear that this is a subwoofer designed for systems that prioritize high performance.
