The AudioControl PNW-4 is a compact 10-cm (4") coaxial speaker from the PNW series, designed specifically for high-end car audio applications and as a replacement for stock car speakers. With its shallow mounting depth of just 42.2 mm, it is particularly well-suited for installation locations with limited space. The nominal impedance of 3 ohms ensures good power handling with both compatible factory radios and external amplifiers.

For midrange reproduction, AudioControl relies on a rigid, poly-mica-coated diaphragm. The design is intended to reduce unwanted distortion and enable controlled, detailed sound reproduction. A linear double-roll surround supports precise cone movement, while the black anodized voice coil former improves heat dissipation. The reinforced steel basket also provides a stable mechanical foundation.

At the center of the PNW-4 is a rear-damped hybrid silk dome tweeter. Thanks to the concentric point-source arrangement, the tweeter and midrange driver are acoustically close together, which is intended to achieve the smoothest possible transition between the frequency ranges. An additional diffuser and the special sound guidance also improve the dispersion characteristics outside the speaker’s direct axis—an important advantage for typical in-vehicle installation positions.
