Sundown NS V.6 18"

The Sundown Audio Nightshade NS V.6 18" is a high-performance subwoofer built without compromise for car audio systems that require deep bass, high sound pressure levels, and large cone excursion. The sixth generation of the Nightshade series combines a powerful neodymium driver with an extremely durable voice coil and a cone suspension designed for high excursion.

With a power handling capacity of 3,500 watts RMS and a linear Xmax of 35 mm, the NS V.6 is particularly well-suited for high-power SPL and demo systems. Despite its enormous power reserves, the massive neodymium motor allows for a comparatively efficient design of the drive system.

A sophisticated cooling design enhances thermal capacity. This includes an aluminum cooling ring, an additional aluminum ventilation ring, and an air exchange system that removes heated air from the motor area while simultaneously supplying cooler air. The eight-layer voice coil offers a large effective surface area and is designed to handle high electrical loads.

To ensure controlled cone movement, Sundown relies on specially developed, ultra-linear centering spiders in combination with the Mega Roll V2 surround. An extended shorting ring also reduces the undesirable effects of inductance changes, thereby supporting controlled drive even at high excursion.

The NS V.6 18" is available as the D1 (2 × 1 ohm) and as the D2 (2 × 2 ohm). Sundown recommends a vented enclosure for both versions with a net volume of approximately 198 liters and tuned to 32 Hz.
