Sundown ZV6 12

The Sundown Audio ZV6 12" is a powerful 30-cm subwoofer designed for high-end car audio systems that require deep bass, high sound pressure levels, and large cone excursion. Within the Sundown portfolio, the Z v.6 series is positioned above the X series and combines a robust motor assembly with a particularly durable voice coil and a suspension system designed for high linear excursion.

At the heart of the ZV6 is its intricately designed magnetic drive. The four-stage stacked motor features a 3-inch, eight-layer flat-wire aluminum voice coil. The combination of a powerful drive system and a generously dimensioned mechanical excursion range enables the subwoofer to maintain controlled cone movement even at high volume levels.

With a linear Xmax of 35 mm in one direction, the ZV6 12 offers enormous excursion reserves. The specially developed Mega-Roll v.2 surround and the ultra-linear spider assembly support the cone even during large excursions and are designed for high-performance deep bass applications.

Another key focus is on cooling the drive. To achieve this, Sundown relies, among other things, on a highly ventilated magnetic gap, a high-velocity pole-piece channel, and additional ventilation paths within the motor. This allows the heat generated during operation to be effectively dissipated from the area around the voice coil.

The large aluminum Faraday ring ensures controlled drive and reduces unwanted electromagnetic effects. Reinforced, braided XL connection leads and robust spring-loaded terminals are designed to withstand the high mechanical and electrical stresses of high-performance subwoofer systems.

The Sundown Audio ZV6 12" is particularly well-suited for bass-reflex enclosures. Sundown recommends a net volume of approximately 70.8 liters with a tuning frequency of 32 Hz. The manufacturer does not recommend a classic sealed enclosure for this model.
