The Sundown Audio ZV6 10 is a no-compromise 25-cm subwoofer designed for high-performance car audio and SPL systems. Despite its comparatively compact cone area, the ZV6 10 is designed for enormous power reserves and extremely high cone excursion. With a power handling capacity of 3,250 watts RMS and a linear Xmax of 35 mm in one direction, it is particularly well-suited for systems that aim to combine high sound pressure levels with powerful low-frequency bass reproduction.

At the heart of the ZV6 is its robust driver with a four-layer stacked magnet system. Sundown uses a 3-inch, eight-layer aluminum flat-wire voice coil wound onto a sturdy aluminum voice coil former. This design enables high motor torque while providing the thermal headroom required for amplifier power in the range of several kilowatts.

A sophisticated ventilation system helps cool the drive. This includes a highly ventilated magnetic gap, flow-optimized pole core ventilation, and additional milled ventilation channels on the pole core. The basket’s solid aluminum spacer ring is also ventilated and aids air exchange during large diaphragm strokes.

The Mega-Roll v.2 surround and specially developed, highly linear centering spiders allow for enormous excursion while maintaining controlled cone movement. The design is complemented by stitched XL tinsel strands, sturdy spring-loaded terminals, and a large aluminum Faraday ring to influence inductance and improve linearity.

The ZV6 10 was developed specifically for compact bass-reflex enclosures. Sundown recommends a net volume of about 1.5 ft³ (approx. 42.5 liters) with a tuning frequency of 32 Hz. The manufacturer does not recommend using a sealed enclosure.
