Sundown NS V.6 12"

The Sundown Audio Nightshade NS V.6 12" is a high-performance subwoofer designed without compromise for car audio systems that require enormous power headroom, high power handling, and controlled low-frequency response. The Nightshade series is one of Sundown Audio’s most powerful subwoofer lines and is designed specifically for demanding SPL and high-power applications.

At the heart of the NS V.6 is its powerful neodymium motor, which, despite its enormous driving force, allows for a comparatively compact design. A sophisticated cooling design featuring an aluminum cooling ring, a vent ring, and a special air exchange system aids in heat dissipation from the voice coil area. This contributes to stable performance, especially under high continuous load.

The eight-layer voice coil is designed to withstand extreme electrical loads. At the same time, an extended short-circuit ring ensures controlled inductance and helps reduce distortion during high cone excursions. With a linear Xmax of 35 mm, the 30-cm subwoofer offers enormous excursion reserves.

To ensure precise mechanical control of the diaphragm, Sundown Audio relies, among other things, on a specially developed Ultra-Linear Spider, a solid die-cast aluminum basket, and the generously sized Mega Roll V2 surround. As a result, the moving system remains under control even at very high volume levels.

Sundown Audio strongly recommends the NS V.6 12" for bass-reflex enclosures. The manufacturer specifies 2.5 ft³ net volume—approximately 70.8 liters—with a tuning frequency of 32 Hz as a starting point. The manufacturer does not recommend sealed enclosures.
