Sundown SA-6.5 v.1

The Sundown Audio SA-6.5 v.1 impressively demonstrates the bass performance that can be achieved from a particularly compact 16.5-cm subwoofer. Despite its small cone diameter, the SA-6.5 v.1 was developed as a full-fledged subwoofer for performance-oriented car audio applications. Its shallow mounting depth makes it particularly well-suited for installations where space for the subwoofer and enclosure is limited.

At the heart of the subwoofer is a powerful 1.5-inch voice coil with copper windings mounted on a black aluminum voice coil former. Together with the robust drive system, it enables a linear cone excursion of 10 mm in every direction. This gives the compact 6.5-inch subwoofer sufficient excursion reserve to generate impressive sound pressure even at low frequencies.

The Solid Pole motor design, with its integrated ventilation channels, promotes effective cooling of the drive. At the same time, this design allows for a particularly shallow effective installation depth, since the rear pole plate can be positioned very close to the rear wall of the housing.

A Faraday ring integrated into the magnet system reduces unwanted inductive effects and contributes to controlled and clean driver performance. As a result, the SA-6.5 v.1 is suitable not only for applications requiring high sound pressure levels but also for compact subwoofer solutions where precision and a small footprint are equally important.

The choice between D2 and D4 dual voice coils allows the subwoofer to be flexibly adapted to different amplifier and wiring configurations. The SA-6.5 v.1 is particularly well-suited for small sealed or bass-reflex enclosures, as well as space-saving installations under or behind vehicle seats.
