The Sundown Audio X-8 v.4 impressively demonstrates the bass performance that can be achieved from a compact 8-inch subwoofer. Despite its comparatively small cone area, the X-8 v.4 is designed for high volume levels, massive cone excursion, and powerful reproduction of low frequencies. With a power handling capacity of 1,250 watts RMS, it is particularly well-suited for high-performance car audio systems where space for the subwoofer enclosure is limited.

At the heart of the X-8 v.4 is its powerful driver combined with a 2.5-inch high-temperature voice coil. Designed for high excursion, this construction achieves a linear Xmax of 19 mm in each direction. A sophisticated suspension system ensures that the diaphragm is guided in a controlled manner even during long strokes.

Among other features, Sundown has equipped the X-8 v.4 with an FEA-optimized centering mechanism and surround. An aluminum shorting ring within the magnet system further helps reduce inductive distortion. As a result, the X-8 v.4 combines high mechanical durability with controlled bass reproduction.

The subwoofer is available with either a dual 2-ohm or dual 4-ohm voice coil, allowing for flexible integration with various power amplifiers and system configurations.
