Wiring Wizard & Port Calculator

Use our wiring assistant for easy speaker and subwoofer connections! The correct connection is important for your amplifier! Low-impedance operation can damage the amplifier! The datasheet shows you which connection each amplifier is designed for!

Our port calculator shows you the tuning characteristics of your enclosure! The net volume is always particularly important here; calculate the subwoofer’s actual resonant chamber volume beforehand to get the correct result. The net volume is calculated by subtracting all dead spaces and is crucial for enclosure design.

The Auto-Connect VE115 is a sturdy, ready-to-use bass-reflex enclosure designed for a single 15" (38 cm) subwoofer. With a net volume of 80 liters and a tuning frequency of 41 Hz, the enclosure is ideal for high-performance car audio applications that require high efficiency and powerful bass.

The 25-mm-thick MDF construction provides a stable foundation even for high-performance subwoofers. Additional bracing and triangular struts at the cabinet corners increase rigidity and help reduce unwanted cabinet resonance. The generously sized slot port enables efficient bass-reflex tuning and reduces annoying airflow noise at higher volume levels.

Thanks to its beveled rear panel, the VE115 can also be positioned in the trunk to save space. A connection terminal and the dark carpet covering ensure a clean and practical integration into various vehicle interiors.

Frequently asked questions about 15" (38 cm) bass-reflex enclosures

What impedance should my 15-inch subwoofer have for this enclosure?

The bass-reflex enclosure works best with D2 or D4 ohm subwoofers. The impedance mainly affects the choice of amplifier, not the tuning of the enclosure. Make sure your amplifier is compatible with the selected impedance.

How low does the frequency response go with this 38cm enclosure?

Depending on the chassis used, the vented enclosure typically achieves 33–36 Hz at –3 dB. The exact lower cut-off frequency depends on the Thiele–Small parameters of your woofer, particularly the resonance frequency (Fs) and Vas volume.

What is the maximum RMS power that the MDF cabinet can handle?

The robust housing is designed to withstand continuous loads of up to 1,500 watts RMS. At higher power levels, additional bracing or damping is recommended to minimise resonance and vibration.

Do I need to adjust the cut-out for my speaker?

The standardised mounting opening fits most 15-inch chassis with a typical cast aluminium basket. To be on the safe side, measure the outer diameter of your subwoofer – it should be around 390–392 mm.

How important is the installation depth for this subwoofer enclosure?

Check whether your woofer, taking into account its installation depth, will fit into the 80-litre enclosure. Most 15-inch drivers require a depth of 150–250 mm. Also bear in mind the space required for the magnet assembly and any dust caps.

Do I achieve higher sound pressure levels with a sealed or bass-reflex enclosure?

Bass-reflex enclosures typically produce 3–6 dB more SPL in the low-bass range than sealed enclosures of the same size. This higher efficiency results from the utilisation of rear sound radiation via the reflex port.

How do I position the unit in the car for the best results?

Where possible, position the enclosure in the boot with the cone or reflex port facing the boot lid. Avoid corners, as these amplify unwanted resonances. Keeping a distance of at least 10 cm from walls improves bass reproduction.

Can I fit sound-deadening material into the bass-reflex enclosure?

Yes, a light layer of polyester wadding or foam on the side walls reduces cabinet resonance. Keep the reflex port clear and use no more than 30 per cent of the internal volume for damping material.

15" (38 cm) Bass-Reflex Enclosure VE115 - Here's what our expert has to say

With bass-reflex systems, precise tuning is crucial. A reflex tube that is the wrong size can turn a high-end driver into a mediocre performer.
