What amplifier power rating is the Z-PC 10 B audio system power cable suitable for?

The power cable, with a cross-sectional area of 10 mm², reliably supplies power to power amplifiers up to around 600 watts. For larger amplifiers with a higher current draw, you should choose a cable with a correspondingly larger cross-sectional area.

Why is OFC copper important in power cables?

OFC copper (Oxygen-Free Copper) offers higher conductivity than standard materials. As a result, there is less voltage drop along the cable, ensuring a stable power supply for bass and dynamic sound.

What size fuse is required for a 10 mm² power cable?

For a 10 mm² power cable, Audio System recommends a 40-amp fuse – this is also how the manufacturer’s own Z-PCS 10 cable set is configured. The fuse should be fitted as close to the battery as possible, ideally within 30 centimetres.

How do I route the power cable correctly in the car?

Run the highly flexible power cable separately from signal cables to avoid interference. Feed it through any existing rubber grommets and protect sharp edges with cable sleeves to prevent damage to the insulation.

Is a separate remote cable required for the connection?

Yes, the remote cable switches the amplifier on and off in sync with the radio. It simply transmits a control signal and therefore does not require a large cross-section like the main power cable.

How can I tell if the cable cross-section is sufficient for my power amplifier?

A cross-section that is too small leads to a drop in voltage, audible dips in bass passages and the material becoming hot. If the voltage at the power amplifier remains stable and the cable stays cool, the 10 mm² cross-section is correctly sized.

Yes, power cables and speaker cables serve different purposes and can be combined without any problems. The cross-sectional area of the power cable depends on the amplifier’s power output, whilst that of the speaker cable depends on the impedance and the length of the cable.
