The net volume is calculated minus all displacements and is important when designing the enclosure.

The Phoenix Gold ZX28PBS is an ultra-slim subwoofer solution designed for vehicles that require powerful, controlled bass while minimizing space loss. Its compact enclosure makes it ideal for car audio installations with limited installation space.

The design combines an 8-inch subwoofer with an additional 8-inch passive radiator. The passive radiator enhances low-frequency reproduction without requiring a traditional bass reflex port. This allows for effective bass reinforcement in a very low-profile, sealed enclosure.

Another advantage is the down-firing design: The woofer faces downward toward the vehicle floor. With proper positioning, the acoustic coupling with the floor and adjacent surfaces can be utilized to further enhance bass reproduction inside the vehicle.

With a cabinet height of just 130 mm, the ZX28PBS remains pleasantly unobtrusive and can be installed in a space-saving manner in the trunk, for example. Phoenix Gold designs the system to work with compact mono power amplifiers and lists the ZXM500.1, among others, as a suitable amplifier solution.
