The Phoenix Gold ZX212PBS is an ultra-slim subwoofer enclosure designed for car audio installations that require powerful low-frequency bass while minimizing space consumption. The compact enclosure combines a 12-inch subwoofer with an additional 12-inch passive radiator. This enhances the reproduction of low frequencies without requiring a traditional bass reflex port.

The passive radiator utilizes the airflow generated by the powered subwoofer inside the enclosure, thereby extending the bass response to lower frequencies. The result is powerful, deep bass from a comparatively slim enclosure—an interesting solution, especially for vehicles with limited space.

Another feature of the ZX212PBS is its down-firing design. The cones face toward the vehicle floor. This allows the system to take advantage of acoustic coupling with the interior—known as the “corner-loading effect”—to further enhance bass reproduction.

With a 500-watt RMS power handling capacity and up to 1,000 watts of peak power, the enclosure offers ample headroom for high-performance car audio systems. The electrical configuration of 2 x 2 ohms also allows for a low-impedance connection, enabling efficient use of a suitable mono amplifier.

Thanks to its low profile, the ZX212PBS is particularly well-suited for installations where a conventional, large subwoofer enclosure would take up too much trunk space. Phoenix Gold thus combines high bass performance with a practical, space-saving design.
