Phoenix Gold ZQA6.8

The Phoenix Gold ZQA6.8 combines a powerful 6-channel amplifier with a highly configurable 8-channel DSP in a single enclosure. This makes it particularly well-suited for high-end car audio systems in which multiple speakers are to be actively driven and precisely tuned to the vehicle’s interior.

Phoenix Gold is committed to consistently high-quality construction in its ZQ series. The ZQA6.8 features, among other things, gold-plated circuit boards, 24-karat gold-plated connectors, and select capacitors from Nichicon and Wima. An optimized dual power supply and shielded transformer cores ensure a stable power supply to the amplifier section. The solid aluminum housing also serves to dissipate heat.

A key advantage is the built-in 8-channel digital signal processor. Extensive sound processing is available for each channel. The 31-band equalizer can be used as either a GEQ or a PEQ and allows for precise corrections between 20 Hz and 20 kHz. High-pass and low-pass filters can also be configured individually. Options include Butterworth, Linkwitz-Riley, and Bessel filters with slope rates ranging from 12 to 48 dB/octave.

For precise spatial alignment, the DSP also features phase and time-domain correction. The delay can be adjusted up to 12.479 ms or 424.286 cm. This allows the individual speakers to be acoustically aligned with the listening position—an important prerequisite for precise soundstage imaging in the vehicle.

The ZQA6.8 also offers flexibility when it comes to signal sources. In addition to high-level and RCA signals, digital sources can be connected via optical and coaxial digital inputs. Bluetooth and USB are also available. The DSP is configured using the Phoenix Gold PC software.
