The Phoenix Gold ZDSB200S is a vehicle-specific 8-inch/200-mm subwoofer designed to enhance selected BMW sound systems. It was developed as a direct replacement for the stock woofer and can be installed in the designated OEM mounting location. Thanks to the plug-and-play design, installation is straightforward and requires no major modifications to the vehicle’s interior.

With 75 watts RMS and a maximum power handling capacity of 150 watts, the ZDSB200S offers a solid power reserve for significantly more powerful bass reproduction compared to many standard speaker solutions. The large 50-mm voice coil works in conjunction with a high-performance N35 neodymium magnet system. This combination is designed to ensure controlled cone movement and clean bass reproduction.

Phoenix Gold uses a sandwich composite design for the diaphragm. A rubber surround provides the diaphragm’s flexible suspension, while the basket is made of an aluminum/plastic composite. The nominal impedance is 3.6 ohms. The frequency range specified by the manufacturer ranges from 37 to 3,000 Hz.

A distinctive feature of the S-version ZDSB200S is its shallow mounting depth. Phoenix Gold specifically markets this model as a BMW 8-inch subwoofer with “slim mounting depth.” This means the subwoofer is designed to fit the tight space constraints of the vehicle-specific original installation location.

The ZDSB200S is therefore particularly well-suited for BMW drivers who want to enhance the low-frequency response of their audio system but prefer a look that’s as close to stock as possible and a straightforward installation. For further system expansion, the subwoofer can, for example, be combined with additional vehicle-specific speakers from the Phoenix Gold ZD series.
