The AudioControl EPICPRO8X is a high-performance 20-cm midrange driver from the EPIC PRO series, designed specifically for car audio systems requiring high efficiency and high sound pressure levels. With a 250-watt RMS power handling capacity, an impedance of 4 ohms, and a sensitivity of 96.2 dB at 1 W / 1 m, it is particularly well-suited for performance-oriented front systems, door panels, and SPL and show car applications.

A unique feature of the EPICPRO8X is the Phase-Cap design developed by AudioControl. It combines the characteristics of a classic dust cap with those of a phase plug and was designed to expand the usable frequency range, improve efficiency, and enable a smoother transition from the midrange to the high-frequency range. This makes the midrange driver particularly well-suited for use with separate tweeters.

The lightweight voice coil and other weight-optimized components enable fast and efficient conversion of the supplied amplifier power. A rigid paper cone ensures controlled and natural midrange reproduction, while the double-rolled fabric surround supports precise cone movement. A copper short-circuit ring reduces distortion while also contributing to a wider usable frequency range. The high-strength, stamped steel basket provides a stable foundation for use at high volume levels.

With a frequency range of 80 to 12,000 Hz, the EPICPRO8X can reproduce an exceptionally wide range of the musical signal. Thanks to its high sensitivity, high volume levels are possible even with relatively moderate amplifier power. For particularly high-performance systems, the speaker can be precisely tuned to the desired operating range using a DSP or an active crossover.
