Wiring Wizard & Port Calculator

Use our wiring assistant for easy speaker and subwoofer connections! The correct connection is important for your amplifier! Low-impedance operation can damage the amplifier! The datasheet shows you which connection each amplifier is designed for!

Our port calculator shows you the tuning characteristics of your enclosure! The net volume is always particularly important here; calculate the subwoofer’s actual resonant chamber volume beforehand to get the correct result. The net volume is calculated by subtracting all dead spaces and is crucial for enclosure design.

A New Chapter in Precision and Natural Sound
With the MATRIX ML80 PRO, BRAX takes midrange reproduction to a new level. As a completely redesigned generation, it carries on the philosophy of the MATRIX ML3—but with an entirely new design, state-of-the-art materials, and uncompromising attention to detail.
The result: a midrange driver that reproduces music with absolute purity, dynamics, and emotional depth.

Carbon-fiber-reinforced multilayer membrane – lightweight, rigid, and low-resonance
The newly developed carbon fiber multilayer diaphragm of the ML80 PRO was created in close collaboration with renowned specialist Dr. Kurt Müller. Its layered carbon structure combines extreme rigidity with minimal mass and impressively reduces unwanted resonances.
A specially shaped reinforcement collar on the back—directly at the transition to the surround—significantly increases coil stiffness and prevents torsion even at high excursion levels. The straight cone geometry in the area of the voice coil mount optimizes force transmission and ensures exceptionally precise, controlled sound radiation.
The finely textured front coating with a closed-cell structure gives the diaphragm an elegant, satin-matte finish with a luxurious feel, while also guaranteeing maximum dimensional stability and durability.

Fascinating Spatiality Thanks to the Stainless Steel Phase Plug
Crafted from solid stainless steel, the Phase Plug optimizes the ML80 PRO’s dispersion characteristics and reduces interference in the midrange. This results in uniform sound distribution, enabling precise and linear reproduction across the entire frequency range.

High-damping butyl surround for maximum precision
The high-damping surround is made of high-quality butyl rubber. Thanks to its excellent damping properties, it effectively reduces unwanted resonance in the surround area and noticeably improves the speaker’s overall performance. In addition, the material offers impressive high-temperature resistance—a guarantee of reliable performance and a long service life, even under demanding operating conditions.

Perfection Down to the Smallest Detail
The aerodynamically shaped die-cast aluminum basket ensures optimal voice coil ventilation and minimizes air turbulence in the basket area. The compact and powerful push-pull neodymium magnet system offers outstanding magnetic linearity and thus extremely low distortion—the foundation for maximum control, precise dynamics, and impressive signal-to-noise ratio. The high-strength Nomex spider, with its particularly dimensionally stable fabric, ensures consistently precise centering and guarantees permanently constant mechanical properties.

Exclusive design and uncompromising build quality – Made in Germany
Like all speakers in the BRAX MATRIX series, the ML80 PRO is manufactured with the utmost precision, selected in pairs, and assigned an individual serial number that is documented in the BRAX database. The BRAX MATRIX MR3 support ring, made of solid stainless steel and featuring a matching grille, is available as an option—an elegant yet secure solution for the speaker’s seamless integration.
Each ML80 PRO is meticulously handcrafted in Germany—a testament to uncompromising manufacturing quality and a passion for perfect sound. It is shipped in an elegant, custom-made wooden crate that underscores the exclusive character of this speaker down to the last detail.

Frequently asked questions about the BRAX MATRIX ML80 PRO speaker

In which frequency range should the BRAX MATRIX ML80 PRO loudspeaker be used?

The 80 mm high-end mid-range driver is designed for the frequency range 250 Hz to 6,000 Hz and, ideally, delivers its precision from a crossover frequency of around 300 Hz upwards (recommended: 24 dB/octave, Linkwitz-Riley). This allows the diaphragm to operate without mechanical overload.

What amplifier power is suitable for the ML80 PRO in a car hi-fi setup?

The ML80 PRO is rated at 100 watts RMS / 150 watts maximum at 4 ohms impedance. We recommend using a properly calibrated amplifier with an active crossover to reliably prevent distortion in the mid-range.

What materials is the diaphragm of the BRAX MATRIX ML80 PRO made of?

The diaphragm is a multi-layer carbon fibre membrane, developed in collaboration with Dr Kurt Müller – its layered carbon structure delivers a high stiffness-to-weight ratio with a low resonance frequency. The surround (butyl rubber) and the high-strength Nomex spider made from meta-aramid fabric are designed to provide high damping and ensure precise centring of the voice coil.

How is uniform sound distribution achieved with the ML80 PRO?

The phase plug, crafted from solid stainless steel, optimises the dispersion characteristics and reduces interference in the midrange. In addition, a specially shaped reinforcement collar and the straight conical geometry around the voice coil housing reduce unwanted torsional forces. This ensures that the ML80 PRO’s sound dispersion remains controlled and uniform across the listening area.

Can the ML80 PRO be combined with other components from the BRAX Matrix series?

Yes, within the BRAX Matrix range, the mid-range driver can be combined with matching tweeters and woofers to form a well-tuned multi-way system. An active driver system makes the best use of its potential.

How should the BRAX MATRIX ML80 PRO be stored and fitted?

The loudspeaker is supplied in a bespoke wooden box, which is also suitable for storage. During installation, ensure that the voice coils are properly ventilated and that the die-cast aluminium basket is fitted without any tension.

What is included in the scope of delivery for the BRAX MATRIX ML80 PRO?

The pair (2 x high-end midrange drivers) is supplied, complete with an Allen key, certificate and data sheet, packed in a bespoke wooden box. The drivers are selected in pairs and each bears a unique serial number.

Where is the BRAX MATRIX ML80 PRO manufactured?

The mid-range driver is meticulously handcrafted by Audiotec Fischer in Germany; the carbon-fibre membrane was developed in collaboration with Dr Kurt Müller. The 24-carat gold-plated terminals also ensure maximum conductivity and a consistently stable connection.
