AudioControl PNW-65

The AudioControl PNW-65 is a high-quality 16.5-cm coaxial speaker from the Pacific Northwest series, designed to deliver detailed and dynamic music reproduction in the vehicle. Thanks to the combination of a sturdy steel basket, a poly-mica-coated cone, and a powerful magnet system, the PNW-65 is ideal for both upgrading a factory sound system and for high-end car audio installations.

A distinctive feature is the concentric point-source design. The tweeter is positioned centrally relative to the mid-woofer diaphragm, ensuring that both frequency ranges radiate from as close to the same acoustic source as possible. This improves temporal alignment and ensures a smoother transition between low/midrange and high frequencies. A Sonic Diffuser with Radiant Collar further supports balanced sound reproduction even outside the speaker’s direct axis.

The rigid, poly-mica-coated diaphragm combines controlled movement with good stability. A linear double-roll surround supports precise diaphragm excursion. For the high-frequency range, a rear-damped hybrid silk dome is used, designed for clean and finely resolved reproduction up to 20 kHz. The black anodized voice coil former improves heat dissipation, thereby supporting the speaker’s power handling at higher volume levels.

With a nominal impedance of 3 ohms and a sensitivity of approximately 88.94 dB, the PNW-65 can be operated with relatively moderate amplifier power. AudioControl specifies 75 watts RMS as the ideal continuous power rating. This makes the system particularly well-suited for use with high-quality car stereos as well as compact and more powerful car audio amplifiers.
