The net volume is always particularly important here; calculate the pure chamber of the subwoofer beforehand to arrive at the correct result. The net volume is calculated minus all displacements and is important when designing the enclosure.

The AudioControl EPICX8 is a high-performance 20-cm subwoofer from the EPICX series, designed to deliver powerful yet controlled bass reproduction in vehicles. With a 400-watt RMS power handling capacity, it combines compact dimensions with a powerful driver, making it particularly well-suited for systems that require a dynamic and precise low-frequency foundation despite limited space.

The unpressed paper cone offers a balanced combination of low weight and high rigidity. Together with the composite foam surround, it enables controlled cone movement and clean bass reproduction even at higher volume levels. A sturdy steel basket provides the mechanical foundation and reduces unwanted resonance.

For the driver, AudioControl relies on a high-temperature-resistant 50-mm voice coil and a high-performance motor unit. The one-piece dust cap further enhances the diaphragm’s rigidity. Large quick-connect terminals with a black nickel finish ensure a secure connection for the speaker cables.

Thanks to its dual-voice-coil design, the EPICX8 can be flexibly adapted to different amplifier configurations. The EPICX8 D2 features two 2-ohm voice coils, while the EPICX8 D4 is equipped with two 4-ohm voice coils. This allows for different series and parallel connections depending on the model.

The EPICX8 can be used in both sealed and bass-reflex enclosures. AudioControl provides specific enclosure recommendations for this purpose, allowing the subwoofer to be tailored for compact, controlled, or more volume-oriented bass reproduction.
