The integration of car hi-fi components into existing original sound systems with a separate amplifier is becoming increasingly complex due to intelligent radio diagnostic systems and the lack of preamplifier outputs. This is where the new HELIX AAC.3 HP comes into play.

✓ The smartest high-low converter in its class

Thanks to the integrated ADEP.3P circuit, which bypasses the radio diagnostic system, error messages or even the omission of individual functions (such as faders) are a thing of the past.

The intelligent ADEP.3P circuit prevents distorted music signals and an increased distortion factor that can occur in connection with conventional high-low converters. In addition, the car radio amplifier is relieved and its power consumption reduced by up to 70%.

✓ Smart signal detection

Its "Double Activation Circuit" also generates a +12V remote signal in two different ways to switch on the connected retrofit amplifier. It either recognizes the DC voltage potential on the loudspeaker outputs of standard factory amplifiers or uses integrated signal recognition with variable input sensitivity, which can also be activated.

The standard equipment also includes the "Power Save Mode", which switches off the remote output if there is no input signal for longer than 2 minutes. Because many vehicles with "CAN" or similar bus systems leave the sound system "invisibly" activated for up to 15 minutes, even if you have left the vehicle in the meantime.

✓ High Resolution Capable

The AAC.3 HP generates a high-quality preamplifier signal from the speaker signal of the amplifier of an original sound system, thus enabling the easy connection of additional retrofit amplifiers. Its particularly wide transmission range from 18 Hz to 80,000 Hz guarantees excellent sound and makes it capable of high resolution.

For original sound systems without a separate factory amplifier, we recommend using the AAC.3. This has been specially developed for direct connection to the loudspeaker outputs of the factory radio.

How do I connect the HELIX AAC.3 HP correctly?

The HELIX AAC.3 HP is connected between the speaker outputs of the factory radio and the RCA inputs on your amplifier. Connect the speaker cables to the converter’s high-level inputs, whilst the RCA outputs are connected to your amplifier. The remote cable enables the unit to switch on automatically.

What is the maximum power rating of the high-low converter?

The AAC.3 HP can handle input signals of up to 155 watts. This power limit is more than sufficient for all standard original sound systems with a separate amplifier. When integrating car hi-fi components, this power handling capacity provides ample headroom.

Does the adapter also work with factory-fitted active radios?

The HELIX AAC.3 HP has been specially developed for OEM sound systems with a separate factory amplifier. For vehicles without an external factory amplifier, HELIX strongly recommends the AAC.3.

How long does the automatic shut-off take?

Once the music signal has stopped, the converter switches off automatically after 2 minutes. This power-saving function prevents unnecessary power consumption and protects the vehicle battery. The unit switches on again immediately when a music signal is detected.

Can I connect a subwoofer directly?

The HELIX AAC.3 HP generates a high-quality RCA pre-amplifier signal for connection to a subwoofer or multi-channel amplifier. A subwoofer cannot be connected directly, but must be operated via an additional amplifier.

What does ‘double activation’ mean in AAC.3?

Double Activation refers to the dual activation logic of the most intelligent high-low converter in its class. The system detects both DC offset and audio signals to trigger activation. This redundant detection ensures reliable operation in a wide variety of vehicles.

What accessories are included in the package?

The AAC.3 comes with all the necessary connection cables. As well as the signal converter itself, you’ll receive RCA cables, connectors and detailed installation instructions. Additional adapters are not normally required to use the AAC.3.
