SILICONE SPEAKER SLEEVES

A common problem when installing loudspeakers in doors or rear shelves is that the sound may not be optimally dispersed into the vehicle interior. In such cases, it is often not even the speakers themselves that are the problem, but the cause, in addition to unwanted vibrations, can be a so-called "acoustic short circuit", which always occurs when there is a small gap between the chassis and the door panel during installation. As a result, the sound generated is not completely radiated to the front, as the pressure required for efficient sound radiation cannot be built up in the first place. In this case, part of the vibration energy flows directly back to the rear of the membrane and causes a loss of pressure. The sound energy also acts in the wrong places and can cause resonances or vibrations.

MUSWAY "speaker sleeves", which have several functions, help to combat such acoustic problems: Made from very flexible silicone, the deep-drawn rings are a kind of baffle seal, sound funnel and vibration damper all in one. They are easy to use and the effect is amazing: the flexible construction is fitted between the speaker and the adapter ring or opening. If necessary, the silicone material can be cut to shape so that it fits perfectly to the surrounding surfaces. The enclosed dimpled foam is attached opposite the rear opening or in the sleeve, which provides additional resonance damping. The result is better sound development and richer bass reproduction.

The silicone baffles, which are available in pairs, also protect speakers installed in doors from moisture, wetness and dirt, increasing not only performance but also longevity. The use of baffle seals is therefore worthwhile in several respects: a small investment not only protects speakers, but also delivers significantly better sound results.
