ISM 400.2DSP - 2-channel subwoofer amplifier module with integrated DSP

The ISM 400.2DSP is a powerful 2-channel subwoofer amplifier module with integrated 1-channel DSP, making it the compact high-performance innovation for modern subwoofer extensions. It combines powerful amplification, precise digital signal processing and a space-saving module concept to create an active subwoofer solution that can be neatly integrated into the vehicle and enables controlled, powerful bass. Thanks to EV-ready architecture, it is also designed for current hybrid and electric vehicles.

The intelligent module for targeted subwoofer upgrades
The focus of the ISM 400.2DSP is on targeted subwoofer upgrades in vehicles with factory-fitted sound systems - in other words, whenever an additional subwoofer needs to be integrated cleanly and reliably without completely converting the existing system. The module is particularly attractive wherever installation space and installation effort are limited, but a high-quality, precise bass extension still needs to be realized. The ISM solves this task by combining amplification, DSP and intelligent integration specifically for this application: Firstly, with up to 460 W RMS maximum power at 2 x 2 Ω, high power reserves are available. The heavy-duty stereo high-level input (up to 32 V RMS) allows reliable signal transfer to sound systems with OEM amplifiers, while ADEP.3 enables error-free integration with modern factory radios. The integrated automatic switch-on via the music signal also ensures reliable switch-on and switch-off - regardless of which technology is used in the factory amplifier. The DSP creates the basis for integrating the subwoofer in a controlled manner - tailored to the installation position, vehicle acoustics and desired bass characteristics. In addition, the DirectDSP function offers another practical option: if required, the input signal can be passed directly to the power amplifier without DSP processing - ideal if an external DSP is already working in the system and the ISM is to be used as a powerful subwoofer amplifier. Thanks to its compact modular concept, the ISM is also an excellent basis for individually manufactured, active subwoofer solutions.


Power, efficiency and precise sound tuning

For power-hungry subwoofer applications, the ISM 400.2DSP delivers plenty of power in a compact module format: 2 x 130 watts RMS at 4 Ω, 2 x 200 watts RMS at 2 Ω and a maximum output of up to 460 watts RMS at 2 x 2 Ω - ideal as a powerful basis for ambitious bass upgrades. The ISM 400.2DSP uses Fischer's Class HD concept for its high efficiency and extremely compact dimensions. This combines the advantages of Class H technology with the principle of a Class D amplifier. The internal supply voltage of the power stages is regulated continuously as a function of the signal amplitude, which drastically reduces the average power loss, particularly at low and medium levels. The result is unsurpassed efficiency, low heat generation and thus a particularly space-saving subwoofer module format. For signal processing, an extremely powerful 64-bit fixed-point audio DSP is used in conjunction with high-quality AD/DA converters - the basis for clean signal routing and precise bass integration. The full range of modern DSP tools and tuning options are available via the DSP PC-Tool 6 to optimally tune the subwoofer to the vehicle, installation position and personal sound preferences.


DeepImpact - dynamic "bass restoration"

With the ISM 400.2DSP, the DeepImpact DSP algorithm for dynamic bass restoration is used for the first time. With signals from factory sound systems, DeepImpact compensates for bass losses by applying high-pass filters and reconstructs missing low-frequency components. With full-range signals, DeepImpact reacts dynamically to the source material: if the track lacks power in the lower frequency range, the algorithm boosts the bass in a targeted manner and thus ensures a richer, more powerful sound. Efficient integration thanks to IMPACT cabinet subwoofer compatibility The ISM 400.2DSP enables an "ISM ready" passive 2 x 2 Ω cabinet subwoofer to be converted into an active solution by simply replacing the connection terminal. Suitable presets for IMPACT enclosure subwoofers are also available in DSP PC-Tool 6 for an efficient introduction to sound tuning.


EV Ready for modern vehicle platforms

For maximum compatibility and suitability for everyday use, the ISM is "EV Ready" and can therefore be used in hybrid and electric vehicles without any problems. The start-stop-capable power supply unit with an extended input voltage range of up to 18 V ensures stable operation in modern vehicle architectures with different drive concepts - especially in vehicles where the maximum power consumption is often limited. Thanks to very high efficiency, heat development and installation space requirements remain low, which also supports flexible installation concepts.

Rapid computing power not only in the signal path - the particularly powerful 32-bit ACO platform handles all control tasks and provides the decisive speed boost, especially in data communication with our DSP PC-Tool software, but also in the lightning-fast switching between the up to ten possible sound setups. But ACO offers much more - fantastic sound effects such as Augmented Bass Processing, dynamic processing such as Dynamic Loudness Control (DLC) or Remote Tone Control (RTC) are implemented as well as the new Advanced Input Signal Analyzer (AISA) for easy analysis and compensation of input signals from factory sound systems that already contain sound settings.

ACO - Advanced 32 Bit CoProcessor

The ACO platform (Advanced CoProcessor) handles all control and communication tasks within the DSP system. It ensures extremely fast system start-ups, lightning-fast switching between up to ten sound setups and smooth, delay-free data communication with the DSP PC-Tool software.
Furthermore, ACO forms the basis for numerous additional functions - including our SFX sound effect "Augmented Bass Processing", functions such as Dynamic Loudness Control (DLC) and Remote Tone Control (RTC) as well as a channel-separated input EQ with integrated Advanced Input Signal Analyzer (AISA) for easy analysis and correction of input signals, which already include factory equalization. ACO therefore stands for maximum performance, flexibility and future-proofing.

Intelligent high-level input ADEP.3

Modern, factory-fitted car radios are becoming increasingly intelligent in terms of diagnosing the connected speakers. The latest generation in particular is equipped with additional monitoring functions so that error messages or even malfunctions can occur if an additional amplifier is connected. The ADEP.3 circuit (generation 3) meets the latest requirements of modern OEM car radios and ensures error-free integration. Controlled via the ACO platform, the system is designed to be future-proof and can react flexibly to future changes in the diagnostic systems of factory radios. This ensures maximum compatibility with almost all OE radios - without any unnecessary load on the speaker outputs at high levels.

Power save mode

The power save mode is used to reduce the power consumption of the amplifier module if no music signal is detected for a certain period of time. If the power save mode is activated, the internal amplifier stages switch off automatically. If a music signal is then present again, the device returns to normal operation within approx. 2 seconds.
The switch-off delay can be varied or completely deactivated using the DSP PC-Tool software.

Start-stop capability

The power supply unit in the HELIX IMPACT ISM400.2DSP ensures the internal power supply even in the event of short-term dips down to 6 volts. This ensures that the amplifier module remains fully functional even when the engine is started.


DSP features

TuneEQ
TuneEQ is an extremely flexible and particularly easy-to-use function for automated frequency response correction. A single measurement per respective audio channel or channel pair with a suitable measuring microphone (such as our AMI Tuning Kit) is sufficient for TuneEQ to adjust the equalizers independently and precisely to the desired reference curve. TuneEQ uses the entire range of functions of the parametric equalizer, including the mid frequency, the Q factor and the gain. And because the highly complex computing operations required for this run in the background, you also save a lot of time when tuning the sound with TuneEQ.

Augmented bass processing
Audiotec Fischer's proprietary "Augmented Bass Processing", consisting of two revolutionary sound features: "Dynamic Bass Enhancement" and "SubXpander". These have been specially developed to dramatically improve the bass response of subwoofers.
"Dynamic Bass Enhancement" ingeniously combines maximum low bass foundation and high maximum sound pressure - regardless of the type of music you are listening to or the sound settings on the radio. Depending on the input signal, "Dynamic Bass Enhancement" boosts the lower frequency range on the one hand and varies the cut-off frequency of the subsonic filter on the other. The result is a much more powerful, deeper bass reproduction at low and medium volumes without running the risk of mechanically or electrically overloading the subwoofer at high volumes. The bass performance that is suddenly possible is simply fascinating.
If you want the bass range to be a little deeper and "blacker", you can also activate the "SubXpander". Here, subharmonic tones are added to the fundamental tones in the frequency range between 50 and 100 Hz.
