The AudioControl SPK-8S2 / SPK-8S4 is a powerful 20-cm (8") subwoofer from the Spike Series, designed to deliver powerful yet controlled bass reproduction in a vehicle. With a 350-watt RMS power handling capacity and a linear cone excursion of 8.5 mm, it is suitable for both compact sealed enclosures and bass-reflex enclosures.

The diaphragm consists of a sturdy fiber-matrix paper construction with a mica coating. This combination ensures high rigidity combined with low weight and supports precise sound reproduction even at higher volume levels. The high-excursion design allows for a large diaphragm excursion, resulting in powerful bass reproduction.

To ensure reliable durability, AudioControl uses a three-layer, high-temperature-resistant voice coil former with a voice coil measuring 50.8 mm in diameter. The multi-layer construction promotes even heat distribution and reduces localized thermal stress. A dual-damping system controls the diaphragm and suspension, contributing to bass reproduction that is as linear as possible. In addition, the dual-dust-cap system reduces unwanted compression effects inside the enclosure.

The subwoofer is available in two impedance variants. The SPK-8S2 features a single 2-ohm voice coil, while the SPK-8S4 is equipped with a single 4-ohm voice coil. This allows you to select the appropriate model based on the amplifier you’re using and your desired wiring configuration.
