AudioControl PNW-35

The AudioControl PNW-35 is a compact 8.9 cm (3.5") coaxial speaker from the Pacific Northwest series, designed specifically for high-quality car audio applications and as a replacement for factory-installed speakers. With a shallow mounting depth of just 39.5 mm, it is particularly well-suited for vehicle locations where space is limited. Its low nominal impedance of 2 ohms also enables efficient power handling, making the PNW-35 an attractive option for numerous OEM upgrades.

For midrange reproduction, AudioControl relies on a rigid, poly-mica-coated diaphragm. This design combines low moving mass with high stability, enabling controlled and detailed sound reproduction. A linear double-roll surround supports precise cone movement, while the reinforced steel basket reduces unwanted distortion. An FEA-optimized driver also ensures efficient operation of the speaker.

At the center of the midrange driver is a rear-damped hybrid silk dome tweeter. Thanks to the concentric point-source arrangement, the midrange and high frequencies are acoustically very close together. This promotes a smooth transition between the two frequency ranges. The Sonic Diffuser and Radiant Collar further improve sound dispersion off-axis—an important advantage for typical in-vehicle installation positions.

The black anodized voice coil carrier promotes effective heat dissipation, ensuring reliable operation even at higher volume levels. With a frequency range of 90 Hz to 20 kHz, the PNW-35 is particularly well-suited as a compact midrange/tweeter in a car audio system. AudioControl specifies 25 watts RMS as the ideal power rating, with a recommended power range of 15 to 50 watts.
