HiFonics Zeus Power Series

Not only HiFonics fans know: If you are looking for a particularly good and powerful car hi-fi power amplifier, you are guaranteed to find it with ZEUS models. This formula has been in place for a good 30 years, when the legendary ZEUS Series 7 laid the foundation for what ZEUS amplifiers still stand for today: maximum power and performance as well as the finest sound, in short - the best that is possible with Class A/B technology.

Connoisseurs know this: Class A/B power amplifiers are great, but anything but compact. For this reason, HiFonics engineers have completely redesigned the ZEUS POWER ZXR series as Class D power amplifiers. The result is a beautiful power pack with very slim dimensions - and all in the familiar and popular ZEUS look. No matter where you look, the ZXR amps are superbly finished. With an outstanding efficiency of over 90%, they don't even need much power to exploit their full potential. The sophisticated features of the ZXR series also include a wired bass remote so that the levels can be conveniently adjusted from the driver's seat.

Equipped with the very latest EPS high-level input, the loudspeaker signal from the car radio can be easily tapped without causing error messages in the vehicle. How do I connect the Hifonics ZXR1200/1 to my subwoofer correctly?

Connect the mono power amplifier to your subwoofer via the speaker terminals. Make sure the polarity (positive/negative) is correct and select the appropriate impedance setting for your subwoofer (1, 2 or 4 ohms).

What fuse do I need for the ZXR1200/1, and how much current does it draw?

For the 1,200-watt RMS output, a 100–150A fuse fitted near the battery is recommended. The Class D amplifier operates very efficiently and, thanks to its high efficiency, draws significantly less current than comparable analogue power amplifiers.

How long does it take for the Zeus Power power amplifier to deliver its full sound quality?

Digital technology delivers optimum performance immediately after installation. However, a running-in period of around 20–30 operating hours may result in minimal improvements in sound quality, as the components stabilise thermally.

Can I fit the power amplifier in the boot or under the seat?

The compact design of the ZXR series allows for flexible installation locations. It is important to ensure adequate ventilation for cooling – a minimum clearance of 5 cm from other surfaces and no direct covering of the cooling fins.

How do I set the low-pass filter to work best with my subwoofer?

The built-in low-pass filter can be adjusted continuously between 35 and 250 Hz. For most subwoofers, a range of 60–80 Hz is recommended. Try out different settings to find the best transition to your other speakers.

Is the power amplifier also suitable for competitions and extreme loads?

Its robust build quality and 1-ohm stability make the ZXR1200/1 more than capable of competing. The constant power output and overheating protection ensure reliable performance even under continuous load in the SPL range.
