The Phoenix Gold ZP12D4 is a high-performance 12-inch Streetbass subwoofer designed for car audio systems that require high volume levels, powerful low-end bass, and a rugged construction. With a power handling capacity of 1,500 watts RMS and up to 4,500 watts of peak power, it offers ample headroom for performance-oriented subwoofer setups.

For the ZP12D4, Phoenix Gold uses a 3-inch (75 mm) OFC voice coil in combination with a powerful, dual-stage ferrite magnet system. This combination is designed to handle high electrical and mechanical loads. The dual-voice-coil design with 2 x 4 ohms also allows for various connection options and makes it easier to match the speaker to a suitable power amplifier.

Unpressed paper is used for the diaphragm. The material combines a comparatively low moving mass with good damping properties. A stitched high-roll surround and the triple polycotton centering system keep the diaphragm in check even during large excursions. The linear Xmax of 17.5 mm underscores the design’s consistent focus on powerful bass reproduction and high sound levels.

With its solid construction and a weight of 11.6 kg, the ZP12D4 is designed specifically for users looking for a durable woofer for high-performance bass-reflex systems. Phoenix Gold recommends bass-reflex enclosures for this model; a sealed enclosure is not recommended for the D4 version.
