Wiring Wizard & Port Calculator

Use our wiring assistant for easy speaker and subwoofer connections! The correct connection is important for your amplifier! Low-impedance operation can damage the amplifier! The datasheet shows you which connection each amplifier is designed for!

Our port calculator shows you the tuning characteristics of your enclosure! The net volume is always particularly important here; calculate the subwoofer’s actual resonant chamber volume beforehand to get the correct result. The net volume is calculated by subtracting all dead spaces and is crucial for enclosure design.

The
ESX DIRECTION DC500 is a compact buffer capacitor with a capacity of 0.5 farads and an integrated power distribution block. It supports the power supply for car audio amplifiers and helps reduce short-term voltage dips during periods of high power demand.

By stabilizing the supply voltage, the DC500 helps ensure a more consistent power supply, particularly during dynamic bass pulses. The integrated positive and negative power distribution board allows for the simultaneous connection of multiple power lines, thereby reducing installation effort.

A three-digit digital voltage display allows you to monitor the vehicle's voltage. Thanks to its compact design and the included mounting brackets, the capacitor can be installed in the vehicle in a space-saving manner.

Frequently asked questions about the ESX DC500 Power Cap

How do you connect the ESX DC500 correctly?

The ESX DC500 features a built-in distribution block for easy installation. Connect the positive cable (16 mm²) and the negative cable (also 16 mm²) to the corresponding terminals. You then route the 10 mm² outputs to your amplifier. The remote terminal is connected to the remote cable from your power amplifier.

What is the capacity of the DC500, and what is it sufficient for?

The Power Cap has a capacitance of 0.5 farads. This capacitance is ideal for amplifiers up to around 1,000 watts RMS. For larger power amplifiers or systems with multiple amplifiers, a capacitor with a higher capacitance or the use of several capacitors is recommended.

Can I also use the DC500 with digital power amplifiers?

Yes, the ESX DC500 is suitable for both analogue and digital amplifiers. The buffer capacitor technology supports all common types of car audio amplifiers and ensures a stable power supply regardless of the amplifier type.

How long does the charge last in the capacitor?

The DC500 is available as Buffer capacitor Designed to compensate for voltage fluctuations during operation and stabilise the sound system. You can check the current status or the applied voltage at any time via the 3-digit digital voltage display read off. The technical text does not specify exact times for how long voltage remains present after the power has been switched off.

Where should the power cap be fitted in the car?

The ESX DC500 should be fitted as close as possible to the amplifier, ideally with a cable run of no more than 50 cm. Thanks to its compact design, it fits even in small boot spaces. Ensure there is good ventilation and avoid fitting it directly next to heat sources.

Do I need any extra fuses for the DC500?

The Power Cap itself does not require a separate fuse, as it is integrated into the existing power supply. The main fuse in your car audio system also protects the capacitor. The only important thing is that the cable cross-sections and fuses are suitable for the total power output of your system.
