AudioControl EPICX12 D2/D4

The AudioControl EPICX12 is a powerful 30-cm subwoofer from the EPICX series that combines high sound pressure levels with controlled and precise bass reproduction. With a power handling capacity of 500 watts RMS, it is suitable for both sound-oriented car audio systems and installations that require powerful and impactful low-frequency bass.

The unpressed paper cone combines low moving mass with natural bass reproduction. A durable composite foam surround ensures controlled cone movement even at higher volume levels. A powerful magnet system, combined with a lightweight, high-temperature-resistant 60-mm voice coil, provides the necessary drive.

The sturdy steel basket reduces unwanted resonance and provides a solid mechanical foundation for the driver. Generously sized quick-connect terminals with a black nickel finish also ensure a secure connection for the speaker cables.

The EPICX12 is available in two dual-voice-coil versions. The EPICX12 D2 has an impedance of 2 × 2 ohms, while the EPICX12 D4 is rated at 2 × 4 ohms. This allows the subwoofer to be flexibly adapted to different amplifier configurations.

Note on selecting a housing:

The EPICX12 can be used in both sealed and bass-reflex enclosures. A sealed enclosure is recommended for a compact design and particularly controlled bass reproduction. The bass-reflex enclosure recommended by AudioControl, on the other hand, offers higher efficiency and deeper bass levels. For particularly large bass-reflex enclosures, AudioControl recommends a reduced power handling of approximately 400 watts RMS to reliably control the cone excursion
